We group together each class and run approximately 6-10 bikes in the initial heat races at once. This is one of the most exciting times for FSW.

We use a simple start method with a pre-start flagger and a light. Once the pre-start flag is raised the start light can be triggered anytime within a 15 second span. This format all but eliminated false and roll starts from FSW III. Serious false start bikes are dq'd from that heat, but can run again if it was not the last heat race.

Heat eliminations follow a simple strategy. We run each heat 2-3x depending upon size and speed of bikes. Each heat race we pull out the bikes we feel are the quickest to the top and tell them they are on to the next round, so they are done for that heat. With this method some bikes will run once, others may run as many as 3x. This strategy continues all the way through quarter finals.

Once we reach the semifinals/finals we run a true best two out of three format. With this format we generally have the fastest bikes transferring all the way through to the semi's, at which point a missed shift, bad start, malfunction can eliminate the bikes with a true two out of three format.

Each class will be run all the way through to the semi-finals level (final 4-6 bikes) where that class will be finished until semis and finals which are run at the end. The only exception to this is the first four classes listed below which will be run all the way through the Finals. Order of classes to be run is as follows:

Builders Classes (both 535cc under and 536cc over)

Unlimited

Chassis

FSW Chicks

535cc Under (Stock Bore/Stock Stroke)

536cc & Over Stock Bore/Stock Stroke Class

535cc Under (Modified)

536cc & Over Modified

535cc Under (Open)

536cc & Over Open

535cc Under Power Adder Class

536cc & Over Power Adder Class

Update on the format of how we are running the races to minimize rider and spectator confusion. Thanks to Fanatics member Dave for the suggestion.

thanks king

builders is listed twice

so is it very first or last???

there are advantages to both, last allows you to complete your class before you worry about builders. but make fuel switchs for king of the hill a little harder.

maybe run them after king of the hill Confused

dont know just throwing it out there

when is the phat azz class ran??

so you are doing qualifiers for everything then holding the semis and finals later???

if thats the case I will have to alter our gameplan.

you make it to the semis in say mod decide to run the quaters in open and BREAK well you then are out and didnt get to finish your class.

guess we will be a one class wonder for safety reasons

Ya dave thats just how it works. Im running the Dew bike in 3 class's and my dune bike in 3 class's and if they break half way through Im done for the day in all class's. If you dont think your bike is reliable enough to run 2 class's I guess ya cant. Im going there to break bikes!

besides the reliablity thing.(my bike gets ran hard all day long just dont want to take the chances on the ONE weekend a year)

it is so much easier to get one class together and get them done and taken care of.

instead of race and then sit around and wait for 3 hours to run again. it cuts the confusion down so much just to take care of one class at a time than it does it run quaters then all the semis and finals later.

wasnt that the format last year??? you had to pay alot of attention to everything to know what was going on.

banshee wars is ran that way and it seems to work well.

things do stay exciting because you keep getting faster and faster bikes

and IMO the EXTRA CLASSES. it would be cool to split them through out the day.

heres just a idea

535cc Under (Stock Bore/Stock Stroke)

536cc & Over Stock Bore/Stock Stroke Class

FSW Chicks

535cc Under (Modified)

536cc & Over Modified

Builders Classes (both 535cc under and 536cc over)

535cc Under (Open)

536cc & Over (Open)

Unlimited

Chassis

535cc Under Power Adder Class

536cc & Over Power Adder Class

Phat Azz class (over 225 owners class)

KING OF THE HILL CLASS

I am sure that needs tweeking but just throwing it out there

I am not trying to be a pain in the butt. just giving recomendations from another point of few. I have seen how the 2 strokers do it, have ran a few myself, and have competed in multiple different types of racing at the national level.

Am i the only one out there, or are there others with some ideas???

didnt king post that it was going to be ran classes to completion than 7 hours later edited it be back to the old format???

but whatever you guys decide is what it is. just sharing ideas. didnt seem like much of anything was being done in this area so thought we would share before it was set in stone and it was to late. whatever happens we will be there and have a great time I am sure

Was never classes to completion. That amount of hot lapping doesnt work for some of the bikes. We like running the semis and finals at the end like is done in most every drag racing venue I race in (NHRA). Makes for a better show.

Weather looks like 71 degrees and sunny for FSW weekend, but cold at night. High 30's.

ok so will the semis and finals for one class be ran right after each other so you go semis and boom finals or are you going to all semis and then all finals??

wanting to know all the good info before. since it can get confusing fast on the sand.

We will run the semi's, have a 2-3 minute break then run the finals straight away.
